Membership is open to people of all ages and abilities, especially those who live in or work in Washington County and surrounding areas. Call the office to talk with the Program Manager.
There is a membership fee to join the NSE. The fee structure is:
$10 per year for seniors age 65 and older; $12 per year for individuals under age 65; and $20 per year for families, groups or businesses.
There are a limited number of scholarships available for those unable to pay the full membership fee. Contact the Program Manager for a scholarship application.
Members set their own schedules and volunteer when and where they want to. Have fun meeting new people and help build caring communities.
You will need to complete application forms, which will include providing two personal references. You will also need to pass a criminal background check. If accepted into the program, you will need to attend an orientation session. At orientation, you will receive a volunteer handbook and other resource materials.

Comments from NSE members:
"What we like about the NSE is that it's given us a chance to meet some wonderful people. We look forward to seeing our new friends. We really like meeting new people and doing things for others who need help."
"Nothing is more satisfying than knowing you have helped someone and that you can ask for help if you need it."
"Being a part of the NSE has been a great experience. It has been a pleasure to see the program grow since we started. It helps us to grow and change, too. It is nice to get input from a variety of people. Volunteering is important to me. It is a chance to make things happen that helps the community."
